Eight capabilities. One TSA.

Custom Fabrication - TSA designs and builds the show-specific mechanical and rigging kit when nothing stock will do, merging rigging, automation and scenic building into one custom solution

Production engineering · Custom fabrication

When nothing stock will do, we build it.

When rigging, automation and scenic building have to merge into one custom solution, we design and build it under a single project - the show-specific kit that does not exist off the shelf.

What we build

The kit that does not
exist off the shelf.

Bespoke rigging solutions, moving platforms, wagons and trucks, show-control interfaces and integrated mechanisms - the show-specific mechanical kit built when nothing stock will do. Sets, props and scenery are built by our Sets, Scenery & Props workshop, and soft goods by our drape custom fabrication team. When all three have to move as one, we carry it here.

01

Bespoke rigging solutions

Custom rigging components and mechanisms engineered for one show, where the standard kit will not do the move.

02

Moving platforms and effects

Wagons, trucks, revolves and integrated effects - scenic, automation and rigging built into one moving element.

03

Show-control interfaces

The custom kit wired to talk to your control system, so a bespoke mechanism runs cleanly off the cue sheet.

What custom fabrication is

One project. One
moving element.

Custom fabrication is the show-specific mechanical kit TSA designs and builds when nothing stock will do - bespoke rigging solutions, moving platforms and wagons, show-control interfaces and integrated mechanisms. When rigging, automation and scenic building have to merge into one custom solution, we design and build it under a single project.

Because rigging, automation, scenic and soft goods are all in-house, the people engineering the move are the people building it - the part that rigs, the part that moves and the part that gets seen are resolved together, not bolted on after. It is one part of Production Engineering.

How it runs

How the build runs.

The design flows from the artistic requirements - the technical solution is built to safely serve the artistic goals. We engineer the mechanical solution, build it in-house, and prove the move before it reaches the venue - rigging, automation and scenic resolved together from the first sketch.

  1. Step 01

    Informed design

The mechanism is shaped by rigging constraints, automation performance and the scenic look from the start, not retrofitted to them.

  2. Step 02

    In-house fabrication

The kit is fabricated in-house across steel, aluminium and machined components, with consultant engineers engaged where the job calls for it.

  3. Step 03

    Integration and control

Rigging, automation, scenic and the show-control interface assembled into one element, wired to run off the cue sheet.

  4. Step 04

    Test, verify & certify

The move proven on the workshop floor; load-bearing elements verified and certified, with the documentation to prove it.

  5. Step 05

    Delivery and handover

The element delivered ready to load in, with operation and maintenance documentation so the crew can run it.

It is one part of Production Engineering - production management, technical design, automation and performer flying all sit alongside it.

Yes. Load-bearing elements are engineered, verified and certified, with the documentation your venue and your insurer ask for.
Both. We build to your design, or engineer the mechanical solution from the brief up - rigging, automation and scenic interfaces resolved together before anything is cut.
