01 - What We Do

Eight capabilities. One TSA.

Industry · Education

Stage systems that pass the audit and survive the next staff handover.

Between productions and term breaks, your hall still has to meet the fire officer's code. TSA keeps your push-up drapes, overhead rigging and asset register up to date - so whoever inherits the space is set up to run it safely.

The whole hall

Your hall does a theatre's job. We keep all of it safe.

Between productions and term breaks a school hall runs staging, push-up drapes, rigging overhead and the asset register the fire officer asks for. Choose the space that matches yours, then explore what we keep certified across it, down to the pile hoist over the stage and the track the curtain runs on.

Common in this sector

What schools call us about.

Different school, same short list. These are the calls that come in before a production week or a facilities audit - and the reason we keep the report ready before you ask.

The hall rig hasn't been inspected since it went in, and we've got a production in the last week of term.

I can't find a fire certificate for any of our stage drapes, and the auditor is booked in next month.

The teacher who ran the rig has left, and no one on staff knows what's safe to fly.

We only get the hall in the holidays, and I need the work done before students are back.

I've inherited a hall full of equipment and no record of what's been checked.

How TSA helps

Every stage system in your hall, from one team.

Most of what runs above and around a school stage, we cover. Hover or tap any capability to see how it shows up in your hall - listed in the order most schools meet us.

Stocked kit

The short list that fits almost every hall.

You don't need to know the model numbers. Six pieces of kit cover most school halls we walk into, and we stock all six. Each one is rated, installed and then serviced by the same crew, so the hall stays on one contact list. We confirm every specification on quote.

TSA 500 kg electric pile hoist, the wire-rope hoist fitted above school hall stages
Overhead rigging

TSA Pile Hoist 500 kg

Fixed to the wall or roof structure to raise a lighting or stage bar. Slow start, slow stop, very quiet, and two buttons to learn. The usual fit where staff turn over and nobody on site is a rigger.

EXE Rise chain hoists

Where the roof suits a chain hoist rather than a fixed pile hoist. Five models, stocked here, and rated to hold a load above people.

Install hoist

EXE Ace

The install hoist for positioning a load into place. Two models only, and the single-phase 250 kg means a hall without three-phase power still has an option.

Never used to hang anything over people. Installs and positioning only.

Hoist control

Atlas Basic controller

The controller that goes in with school chain hoists: illuminated channel select, one global up and down, and a pendant that drives every selected hoist. Designed, built and serviced in-house.

Triple E UniTrack curtain track body and carrier system, distributed in Australia by TSA
Curtain track

Triple E drape track

Erail for a hall curtain on a modest run, UniTrack where a house curtain works every night, UniBeam where the grid can't carry the drape on its own. TSA is the Australian distributor, and parts are stocked here.

Continuous-loop drive on a stage curtain track, the drive the TSA CW-1 curtain winch runs
Curtain drive

TSA CW-1 curtain winch

Track-mounted capstan drive with soft start and stop, so a curtain too wide to pull by hand still opens on cue. Runs on Erail and UniBeam.

Every model here is one we also service and recertify, so the hall keeps one contact list rather than one per supplier. Not sure which suits your room? Book a Systems Health Check and we'll spec it against what you already have.

Engagement model

How it usually goes, start to finish.

Most school projects with TSA follow the same five-step shape. Mapped to your term calendar, not ours.

  1. Step 01

    Visit

Pre-term-break site visit and asset register.

  2. Step 02

    Scope

Budget-aligned scope of works for the next holiday window.

  3. Step 03

    Install

Term-break install with no impact on school routine.

  4. Step 04

    Hand-over

    Hand-over with operator training documented.

  5. Step 05

    Return

Annual return visit aligned to the school calendar.

Common questions

Questions schools ask us most.

Yes - that's how we prefer to run school work. We book the site visit before the break, scope the job, then install and certify during the holiday window so students and staff come back to a hall that's ready. We map the whole programme to your term calendar, not ours.

We walk the hall and document the stage systems as found - fly bars, hoists and rigging, drape stock and its FR status, and the asset register the fire officer and your insurer will ask for. You get a written report with what's current, what's overdue, and a prioritised list costed to your next budget cycle. No teardown required to get the baseline.

Yes. Drapes and rigging sit under the same programme, so a single visit covers FR-treatment recertification windows, fly system condition, hoist servicing and drape track maintenance - one report, one schedule, one invoice. Fewer contractors through the school, fewer purchase orders to raise.

Lifting and rigging work is delivered against AS 4991 and D8 Plus where applicable. Drape FR treatment is delivered against AS 1530. Electrical testing against AS/NZS 3760. Where the school or your department has stricter insurer requirements, we work to whichever standard is stricter and document it.

A short, stocked list covers almost every hall. Overhead, the TSA pile hoist at 500 kg WLL is the usual fit: fixed to the structure, up to 14 m of travel, an Up/Down push-button with E-Stop and nothing else to learn, made in Australia to AS 1418.2. Where the roof suits a chain hoist, the EXE Rise range runs 350, 500, 1000, 2000 and 2500 kg, D8 Plus at 8:1 with double brakes. The EXE Ace (500 kg three-phase, 250 kg single-phase) is the D8 install hoist and is never used to hang anything over people. On the curtain side, Triple E track carries the drape - Erail for a hall, UniTrack for a house curtain in nightly use, UniBeam where the grid can't carry the drape on its own. Where the curtain is driven rather than hand-drawn, the TSA CW-1 winch runs on Erail and UniBeam and handles drapes up to 60 m wide from a wall-mounted Open/Close/Stop cabinet. The full list is on the page under the kit, and we confirm every specification on quote.

That's exactly why we document it. Operator training is delivered against a written safe scope and handed over as a record the school keeps - so when a teacher or AV coordinator moves on, the next person inherits the procedures, not a guess. We can refresh it on the annual return visit as your team turns over.
